Local, dependable school run taxis & minibuses
Welcome to the dedicated School Run Taxis cluster page for Ladybird Taxis & Airport Taxi, built under our Specialist Taxi Services pillar. We specialise in home-to-school and school-to-home journeys across Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire, plus school run taxis to London for independent schools, boarding schools, language colleges and special activity days. Our modern fleet covers everything from solo pupils with a rucksack to 16-seater minibuses for siblings, friendship groups, school bubbles and staff teams — always with DBS-checked drivers, safeguarding-aware procedures and fixed, predictable term-time pricing.
Parents and schools choose us because our focus is simple: punctual, predictable and polite school run transport. We plan pickup times around school gates, crossing patrols and typical congestion, build in realistic buffers for traffic around major junctions and London-bound routes, and keep communication flowing with parents, guardians and school offices. Whether it’s a daily school run taxi from Deepcut, Frimley, Camberley, Farnborough, Fleet, Bracknell or a bespoke shuttle connecting multiple addresses to a single school, we right-size the vehicle and agree a clear schedule so that children arrive calm, on time and ready to learn.
Many of our school-run customers also rely on us for term-time to London transfers — for example, from Surrey Heath, Rushmoor, Hart or Bracknell Forest into central and North London schools, Saturday programmes, weekend boarding returns and university taster days. We provide the same professional standards, with added attention to longer journeys, rest breaks and bag space, so the trip there and back is as smooth as the school day itself.

Alongside standard home-to-school journeys, our school run taxis there and back often include stops at breakfast clubs, childminders, after-school activities, sports fixtures and music or tutoring venues. Where parents agree, we can combine routes so that children from the same road or neighbourhood share a minibus. This helps reduce costs, shorten waiting times at the school gate and lowers the number of cars around busy entrances at drop-off and pick-up.
What’s included in a Ladybird school run taxi service
Safeguarding-aware, DBS-checked drivers
Every school run is handled by DBS-checked drivers who are used to working with children, young people and vulnerable passengers. We can maintain the same regular driver or small pool of drivers wherever possible, so the school run becomes predictable and familiar. Our team are briefed on safeguarding basics such as appropriate language, safe drop-off points and how to liaise with parents and school staff at the gate.
Right-sized vehicles (1–16 seats)
From executive saloons and MPVs to 8, 10–12 and 14–16 seater minibuses, we scale the school run to your child, family or group. Tell us if you need booster seats, space for sports bags, musical instruments, wheelchairs or pushchairs and we’ll allocate the right capacity. For larger schools we can dispatch multiple vehicles to cover different routes and arrival windows.
Fixed, transparent term-time fares
We agree fixed school run taxi fares in advance so families and schools can budget with confidence. Options include per-journey pricing, weekly or monthly billing, split-fare arrangements between families and invoicing for schools or local authorities. No surge pricing, and extras only apply where there are agreed changes such as additional stops or significant waiting beyond normal school delays.
Consistent schedules & live updates
School days are busy enough, so we keep the transport side as calm as possible. We agree set pickup and drop-off times, then use live traffic tools on the M3, M25 and local routes to adjust in real time. Where appropriate we share driver details, vehicle registration and live ETA messages so that parents and school offices always know who is coming, when, and by which route.
Flexible school year planning
We understand that school life changes across the year: new timetables, after-school clubs, mock exams, revision sessions, sports tours, music festivals, parents’ evenings and open days. Our coordinators can adapt your plan, add extra legs or re-time regular runs, so your school run taxis always match the current timetable — not last term’s.
Types of school run taxi service
Individual & family school runs
Door-to-door school run taxis for one child, siblings or a small family group. Popular for busy parents, shift workers, carers, military families and those juggling multiple drop-offs. We’ll agree pickup from home, a trusted relative, childminder or breakfast club and ensure your child is handed over safely at the correct gate or reception point.
Shared family & friendship group runs
Parents often choose to share a minibus taxi with neighbours, classmates or team-mates. We can design a circular route that links a small group of homes or pickup points with the same school, splitting the cost fairly between families. This works especially well for Fleet, Church Crookham, Camberley, Frimley, Ascot, Bracknell, Yateley and Woking, where many children attend the same high-demand schools.
School & college contracts
We work directly with schools, colleges and trusts across Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire to provide regular contract services — including main morning and afternoon routes, shuttle services between multi-site campuses and special provision transport for pupils living further afield. Our team can help with risk assessments, route planning, staff briefings and gate marshalling plans.
SEN & accessibility-focused school runs
For children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities, the journey can be just as important as the classroom. We can provide patient, SEN-aware drivers, carefully chosen seating, accessible vehicles (by request) and space for mobility aids. Our coordinators will listen to your routine, triggers and preferences and build them into the plan so that the school run feels predictable and safe.
Ad-hoc cover & emergency replacements
Minibuses break down, staff are off sick and school contractors sometimes fall through at short notice. Our specialist taxi services can step in with backup school run taxis and minibuses, often at short notice, to keep pupils moving safely. We’re used to working with school business managers, site teams and local authorities when a stopgap or contingency plan is needed.
School run taxis to London & longer-distance routes
Many families across Surrey Heath, Rushmoor, Hart and Bracknell Forest choose schools and colleges in central and outer London — from grammar and independent schools to specialist arts, sports and language colleges. Our school run taxis to London provide a calm, direct and supervised alternative to multiple trains or long car journeys in peak traffic.
Examples of popular to London school run patterns include:
- Camberley / Frimley / Deepcut → London schools and colleges along the South West rail corridor
- Fleet / Church Crookham / Elvetham Heath → independent schools in South West London
- Woking / Guildford → London day schools, Saturday programmes and music conservatoires
- Ascot / Sunningdale / Virginia Water → West London schools and international colleges
- Bracknell / Wokingham / Crowthorne → London universities for taster days and interview visits
These journeys can be arranged as daily term-time routes, weekly boarding returns or occasional one-offs (for example, open days, exam days or special events). We plan realistic departure times, comfortable rest breaks and safe return options, making sure that children aren’t dropped at unfamiliar London streets without a clear handover plan. Where required, we can coordinate with school guardians, boarding houses or host families.
Fleet & seating guide for school journeys
- Executive saloon / MPV (1–4 passengers): Ideal for individual school run taxis, sixth-formers, pupils with early or late revision sessions, and college students heading into Surrey or London. Comfortable, discreet and practical for term-time appointments.
- MPV / 6-seater: Great for siblings and small friendship groups travelling together. Often used for Fleet, Yateley, Camberley, Frimley and Wokingham families sharing the school run between two or three households.
- 8-seater minibus: Our most popular school run minibus size. Perfect for local shuttle routes, sports teams, after-school clubs and shared taxi runs to high-demand schools in Camberley, Farnborough, Bracknell, Ascot, Woking and Guildford.
- 10–12 seater minibus: A smart balance of seating and luggage for school sports fixtures, music tours, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and multi-address runs. Plenty of room for kit bags, musical instruments and packed lunches.
- 14–16 seater minibus: Ideal for larger groups, school bubbles, staff teams and shuttle circuits between rural hamlets and central school sites. Multiple minibuses can be combined to create a scaled-up school run service for open days, taster days or exam weeks.
Luggage & equipment tips: When you enquire, please tell us about sports kit, musical instruments, science or art project boxes, wheelchairs, walking frames, or any specialist equipment that needs to travel on the school run. For London and longer-distance school runs we can add a support vehicle, or slightly increase seat capacity, to keep everyone comfortable while still complying with safety and load limits.
How to book your school run taxi or minibus
We work with individual families, friendship groups, schools, colleges and local authorities. However simple or complex your school run seems, start with the basics below and we’ll do the planning work for you.
- Online: Use our secure booking form to request a school run taxi quote. Include your preferred start date, term pattern (for example, five days per week, mornings only, or specific weekdays) and whether you’d like a trial week before committing for the full term.
- Phone: Call 01276 850505 to talk through routes, shared minibus options, child ages, safeguarding needs and timings. This is often the fastest way to build a bespoke plan for families in Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire.
- Email: Send your outline to bookings@ladybirdtaxis.co.uk including full addresses, children’s ages, school names, regular start/finish times, and any after-school clubs. For to London school transfers, add estimated return times and any handover details at boarding houses or guardians.
- WhatsApp: Message WhatsApp Us with pickup postcodes, school names, passenger numbers and whether you need morning, afternoon, or both directions there and back. We can share route options, sample timings and figures in one place for easy reference.
We’ll respond with a fixed fare proposal, outline the route and timings, and confirm driver & vehicle details before your first school run. For regular contracts we can provide written schedules, route maps and emergency contact procedures for parents and school offices.
Payments, billing & cancellations
- Payment options: Pay per journey, weekly, monthly or by term. We accept card, bank transfer and cash to the driver where appropriate. Corporate accounts and invoicing options are available for schools, colleges and local authorities.
- Free cancellation windows: For most regular school run bookings, cancellations made with reasonable notice (typically by the previous day) incur no charge. Last-minute changes may be chargeable if the vehicle has already been dispatched — we’ll make these terms clear in advance.
- Fair pricing: No surge pricing or surprise add-ons. If we need to build in additional stops, significant waiting or route changes (for example, extra clubs every week), we’ll agree a revised fixed fare first.
Indicative school run taxi & minibus fares
These guide prices illustrate typical single-journey fares for standard school run taxis and minibuses at normal school times. Actual quotes depend on precise pickup location, school gate access, vehicle size, time of day, day of week, after-school club timings and any extra stops. Typical school run journey times (term-time)
School run traffic behaves differently from normal peak commuting, especially around key junctions, level crossings and school clusters. We use live routing tools but always begin with realistic typical times so everyone knows what to expect. Times below are based on normal term-time conditions and assume a sensible buffer for school gate congestion — we’ll fine-tune them for your specific route.
| From | To (example) | Typical time (school run) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camberley / Frimley / Deepcut | Local schools in Camberley & Frimley | 10–25 mins | Extra allowance needed around A30 and Frimley Road junctions at 08:00–08:45. |
| Farnborough / North Camp | Farnborough schools & colleges | 10–20 mins | Term-time queues near major roundabouts; we plan staggered arrival windows where possible. |
| Fleet / Church Crookham / Elvetham Heath | Fleet schools & Hart secondaries | 10–25 mins | Typical rush around Calthorpe Park area; we build in extra time for after-school club collections. |
| Yateley / Blackwater / Sandhurst | Yateley, Sandhurst & Camberley schools | 15–30 mins | Cross-border traffic into Berkshire; we monitor both M3 and local cut-throughs. |
| Crowthorne / Wokingham / Bracknell | Local schools, Ascot & Wokingham colleges | 15–35 mins | Rail crossings and business-park traffic can add brief holding times. |
| Bagshot / Lightwater / Windlesham | Schools in Camberley, Ascot & Woking | 20–40 mins | A322 and M3 flows are watched carefully; detours are used when they will genuinely save time. |
| Woking / Knaphill / Chobham | Woking schools & colleges | 10–25 mins | Town-centre congestion and school clusters can create short but regular delays; we plan for these. |
| Guildford / Worplesdon | Guildford schools & university area | 10–25 mins | Extra variability on wet days and exam mornings; we increase buffers accordingly. |
| Ascot / Sunningdale / Sunninghill | Ascot & Windsor schools | 10–30 mins | Race days and major local events can affect timings; we check calendars and advise parents. |
| Virginia Water / Egham / Englefield Green | Local schools & Staines | 15–30 mins | Bridge and motorway traffic monitored, especially for after-school club return journeys. |
| Surrey / Hampshire / Berkshire | London schools (typical day route) | 60–100 mins | Heavier variability due to M3/M25 and London traffic; we plan with generous buffers and live routing. |
Planning guide: stress-free school run taxis
Good school transport is built on clarity, consistency and communication. To help parents, carers and school leaders design a smooth school run, our coordinators use a series of simple planning steps. You are welcome to adapt the checklists below for your own family, school or trust.
Before you book your school run taxi
- Passenger count & ages: We need to know the number of children, approximate ages and any additional adults or staff travelling. This helps us match seat types, vehicle size and safeguarding expectations (for example, whether an additional adult chaperone is required).
- School details & gate locations: Share the full school name, postcode, preferred gate or entrance, and any specific instructions (such as one-way systems, barrier codes or reception sign-in).
- Routine timetable: Start with the standard school day — normal drop-off and collection times — then layer in recurring variations such as regular clubs, fixtures, music lessons, revision sessions or late buses.
- Pickup strategy: Decide whether we collect from one home, multiple addresses, a central meeting point or a mix (for example, siblings from one address and friends from another). We’ll optimise the sequence to be both time-efficient and age-appropriate.
- Safeguarding notes: Tell us if there are any specific instructions — for example, whether children must be handed directly to a named adult, whether they may walk from the vehicle to the gate independently, or any medical / behavioural notes we should be aware of.
Morning school run (there)
- Get-ready buffers: We recommend allowing a little extra time between alarm clocks, breakfast and pickup, especially for younger children or siblings. We’ll agree a clear pickup window that fits naturally into your home routine.
- Vehicle familiarisation: For new arrangements, a parent may wish to accompany the vehicle once or meet the driver at the school gate. We’re happy to make the first journey slower and more supported while everyone gets used to the routine.
- Drop-off detail: We’ll position the vehicle in a safe, legal place that minimises road crossing and congestion. If the school has a specific drop-off lane or on-site turning circle, we’ll follow their instructions and work with staff to keep things moving.
Afternoon school run (back)
- Gate procedures: We agree exactly where your child will meet the driver — for example, outside reception, at a side gate, in a supervised pickup area or at a designated minibus bay. For younger or additional-needs pupils we can liaise directly with staff.
- Late exits & detentions: Occasionally pupils are delayed by staff, clubs or detentions. We’ll agree in advance how these situations are handled (for example, how long the driver waits and who they contact) so that nobody is left unsure at the gate.
- Home handover: We follow your instructions on whether pupils may be dropped to a responsible older sibling, neighbour, grandparent or childminder, or must only be released to a named adult.
Trips, fixtures & exam days
Home to school taxi- Trips & visits: For museums, theatres, field trips and activity centres (including to London transfers), we can plan there and back journeys with pre-agreed comfort breaks, luggage capacity and return times. We’re used to coordinating with trip leaders and school risk assessments.
- Sports fixtures: Our minibuses are busy on weekday evenings and Saturdays with football, rugby, hockey, netball and athletics fixtures. We can transport both players and supporters, with room for kit bags and refreshments.
- Exam timetables: During GCSE, A-Level and college exam periods, start and finish times are highly variable. We can create flexible school run taxi patterns for morning and afternoon papers, including quiet, calm journeys to help students arrive composed and focused.
Weather, roadworks & disruption
British weather and roadworks don’t always cooperate with school timetables. We monitor conditions on key routes across Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire, and apply common sense when snow, flooding or major incidents affect the network. When disruption is likely, we:
- Bring pickup times forward where necessary, with clear communication to parents and schools.
- Use alternative routes or staging points where roads are blocked or unsafe.
- Coordinate between multiple vehicles so that children heading to the same school arrive together.
- Work with schools to align closures or early finishes with realistic collection plans.
Safety, safeguarding & compliance
- Licensing & insurance: All vehicles and drivers are locally licensed and appropriately insured for hire & reward work, including school and child transport.
- DBS & vetting: Drivers working on regular school runs undergo enhanced DBS checks and ongoing compliance monitoring. We can provide confirmation of checks for schools and local authorities as part of contract setup.
- Vehicle standards: Our fleet is maintained on a strict schedule, with daily defect checks, regular inspections and clean, tidy interiors between jobs. Seatbelts are provided and must be worn at all times for school journeys.
- Child seats & boosters: We follow current UK guidance on suitable child seats, high-back boosters and booster cushions. Families may use their own seats or, subject to availability, request ours at no extra charge — we just need age, height and weight to allocate correctly.
- Safeguarding practice: Drivers receive guidance on appropriate boundaries, language, confidentiality and escalation routes. For higher-risk or complex situations we can work directly with designated safeguarding leads at schools to align expectations and reporting channels.
- Paperwork & records: We provide digital confirmations, itemised quotes, route outlines and receipts. For schools and trusts we can supply copies of insurance, licences, risk assessment templates and operating procedures as required.
Sustainability & reducing the school gate queue
School runs can be a major contributor to local congestion and emissions, especially around busy junctions and tight residential streets. Our school run taxi services help to reduce that impact by:
- Right-sizing vehicles: Using an appropriate car, MPV or minibus instead of multiple individual journeys by parents.
- Combining routes: Where parents agree, we group pupils from similar areas into shared runs, reducing the number of vehicles at the gate.
- Reducing dead mileage: Careful scheduling allows us to chain journeys together across Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire, so vehicles stay productive rather than making empty returns.
- Supporting active travel: Some families use our taxis for the longer leg (for example, from a rural lane to a safe drop-off point) and then walk the last section to school. We’re happy to help plan these hybrid routines.
FAQs: School run taxis & term-time travel
How far in advance should we book a school run taxi?
For regular term-time school run taxis, we recommend booking at least a few weeks before the start of term, especially for shared minibuses and to London transfers. However, we often help families who need to arrange new transport mid-term or at short notice — for example, after a house move or timetable change. For the best choice of times and vehicles, contact us as soon as you know your likely schedule.
Can you provide child seats and boosters?
Yes. We can provide age-appropriate child seats and boosters free of charge, subject to availability, as long as you tell us the age, height and approximate weight of each child who needs one. Alternatively, you’re welcome to use your own seats. We can store regular seats in the vehicle for daily school runs by arrangement, or hand them back to you each day if you prefer.
Do you offer school run taxis to and from any school in your area?
Yes — we provide school run taxis to and from any school, college or education setting within our operating area across Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire, subject to access, safety and availability. That includes local primaries, secondary schools, academies, special schools, independent schools and further education colleges. If the school is outside our typical area or in London, we’ll still be happy to quote for to London transfers and longer-distance school journeys there and back.
Can children travel on their own in the taxi or minibus?
In many cases, yes — particularly for older primary, secondary and sixth-form students. We’ll discuss age, maturity, additional needs and parental preferences before confirming the arrangement. Where a school or family prefers, we can accommodate an accompanying adult, chaperone or staff member in the vehicle, and we’ll note any requirements about handover to a named adult at both ends of the journey.
What happens if my child is ill, off school or staying late unexpectedly?
Life happens. If your child is unwell or not travelling on a particular day, please let us know as soon as possible via phone, email or WhatsApp so we can adjust routes. Depending on your arrangement, late cancellations may incur a small charge if the driver has already set off, but we handle regular absence and occasional changes with common sense. For unplanned late finishes we’ll follow the process agreed at booking, which may include additional waiting or a later collection slot.
Do you provide wheelchair-accessible or SEN-adapted school transport?
Yes — by request. Availability depends on time of day and route, so it’s important to discuss your needs in detail at the booking stage. Tell us about mobility aids, transfer preferences, medical equipment and any sensory or behavioural considerations, and we’ll propose a vehicle and schedule designed around comfort and safety. We are happy to liaise with school SENCOs or local authority transport teams where appropriate.
Can you arrange regular shared school run taxis for multiple families?
Absolutely. Shared school run minibuses are a practical way to reduce costs, congestion and environmental impact. If you already have a group of families, we can build a custom route and split pricing fairly. If you don’t, we may be able to match you with existing routes where pupils attend the same school from nearby roads or villages. Just tell us your flexibility around exact pickup and drop-off times.
Do you work directly with schools, trusts and local authorities?
Yes. We provide contracted school transport services as well as family-booked taxis. For schools, colleges, academies and trusts we can support tender responses, provide compliance documentation, build term-time duty rosters and integrate with existing transport teams. Local authorities and commissioning bodies are welcome to contact us about frameworks, SEN routes and contingency cover.
Can you support boarding, international and guardianship arrangements?
Yes. Our school run taxis often extend to airport transfers, rail station pickups and to London transfers linked to boarding schools, language programmes and guardianship organisations. We can coordinate with guardians, house parents and agencies to ensure clear handovers, ID checks and contact details on both sides of the journey.
Customer reviews
“We needed a reliable school run taxi from Fleet to a Surrey school after changing jobs. Ladybird organised a regular driver, sensible times and clear communication. Our daughter actually enjoys the journey now and we no longer spend every morning in a traffic jam.” — Fleet parent
“Three families in Yateley share an 8-seater school run minibus to a Bracknell school. The cost is fair, the driver is lovely with the kids and the school says drop-off is much calmer with fewer cars. We also use Ladybird for occasional to London school trips and they always run on time.” — Yateley
“Our son has additional needs and found public transport overwhelming. Ladybird built a gentle routine with the same driver and a short, direct route. They liaised with the school SENCO and now the school run taxi there and back is one of the calmest parts of his day.” — Camberley
“We’re a school in Surrey and often need extra minibuses for fixtures, trips and exam days. Ladybird’s coordinators understand how schools work — they are flexible with timings, professional with staff and pupils and always clear with paperwork.” — Surrey school business manager

In addition to the towns and villages listed above, we frequently support families and schools in neighbouring hamlets, estates and rural lanes around Surrey Heath, Rushmoor, Hart and Bracknell Forest.
